If they have Samsung UHD TVs of the 2014 model generation, viewers will be able to receive the concert very conveniently without requiring any further appliances, thanks to their integrated digital tuner (DVB-S2) and HEVC decoder. 20 models are already available in retail. Samsung UHD TVs from the 2013 model generation can be upgraded using the UHD Evolution Kit.

Rock-Superstars live in the living room

The first live broadcast of a concert in UHD – this historic moment would have been hard put to find more suitable protagonists. Linkin Park, a Warner Music band, are one of the most successful and popular rock bands of our time. Only a few days ago, the Californians won in the "Best Rock" category of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2014—their 5th consecutive MTV EMA. On their current tour, they are presenting their hits, as well as material from their latest album, "The Hunting Party," with a visually stunning stage show. The band attaches great importance to a sophisticated visual presentation and hence also understands itself as an ambassador of the path-breaking UHD picture standard: "We have always put as much effort into how we are presented visually as we do with our music. We are delighted that viewers who are unable to be in the arena will be able to experience us in the intensive broadcast quality that is only available from UHD at this moment in time", explains co-lead singer, Chester Bennington.

The Samsung UHD world of experience is growing rapidly

Samsung is not only committed to offering its customers outstanding product quality with its UHD TVs, but also to enabling their access to varied contents in brilliant UHD quality. Cooperation with Astra Deutschland on the UHD broadcast of the Linkin Park concert is the latest result of these efforts.

“On November 19, tens of thousands of people will be able to experience Linkin Park live on Samsung UHD TVs. This is just one example of our range of digital terminals. When we imagine that there are an eight-digit number of addressable Samsung screens in households today, it provides an impression of our medial possibilities – including those in classic communication,” Georg R. Rötzer, Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics GmbH, said in regard to the upcoming world premiere.
